Django Reinhardt grew up in a gypsy camp on the outskirts of Paris in the 1920s. Amongst caravans and horses, dancing bears and gypsy women, Django taught himself the banjo and then the guitar in the shadows of the bohemian campfire.
I caught up with Andrew Lawrence, the founder of the Acoustic Guitar Network, the week before his big Django in June festival. With a little prodding, I convinced him to spin a few Django tales and gypsy tunes.
